This creative couple put together a super sophisticated celebration at The Abbey wedding venue, that was full of personality and style.
The Abbey in Co. Kildare is one of the newest exclusive wedding venues in Ireland. Opening midway through 2021, this stunning space was immediately inundated with bookings from all over the country, and abroad. Many of the couples booking The Abbey initially were doing so because their destination wedding plans had been cancelled due to Covid-19. And so, they couldn’t believe their luck when they stumbled across this charming new celebration space on Instagram. One such booking came from Joanne and Frank, a sweet couple who had dreamed of tying the knot in Portugal. But were subsequently forced to think much closer to home. Joanne and Frank fell in love with The Abbey almost straight away, and were soon planning a very different dream wedding than originally thought, within this elegant venue. They are a couple with stylish taste, and the rich, luxurious vibe of the many receptions rooms and outside spaces appealed immensely to them. To bring their chic wedding ideas to life, they enlisted the help of Maria Reidy Events. A unique, and personalised event planning service based in Dublin. They are experts in creating luxurious celebrations of all kinds, and are adept at giving any kind of space the ambiance that is required. Hiring Maria Reidy Events also allowed Joanne and Frank to plan their wedding within a very short timeframe, something they may not have been able to do as successfully on their own. The soon-to-be newly-weds chose to host their entire celebration at The Abbey wedding venue, utilising the ancient and newly renovated chapel on-site, as well as the refined reception spaces. The pair also got ready for their big day in two of the 38 charming bedrooms at The Abbey, surrounded by their excited family and friends. Walking down the aisle, Joanne looked ultrasophisticated and fuss-free in a sleek Justin Alexander gown that matched the overall aesthetic entirely. Following their romantic exchange of vows, the now newly-weds explored the handsome grounds of The Abbey with their wedding photographer, Peter Carvill. Together with Peter, the happy couple created some breathtaking, yet intimate portraits. All backdropped by the immaculate gardens of The Abbey. The guys at Maria Reidy Events really outdid themselves when it came to the reception dinner. As Joanne and Frank’s guests were treated to a glamorous, and sumptuous scene upon entering The Abbey’s ballroom. This already stately room had been given the planners’ signature touch, while also highlighting The Abbey’s fabulous existing features. Such as the suspended cut-glass chandeliers that hang gracefully above the grand reception space. Every detail was immaculate, and much adored by the couple, and their loved ones. Joanne and Frank finished their wedding day by dancing the night away. In what was the final surprise of the night for their friends and family, witnessing the transformation of the chapel at The Abbey. A normally serene, and calm space during the day, but come nighttime becomes a stage for live music and entertainment. Joanne and Frank’s guests immediately hit the dance floor upon entering the space, and were thrilled to discover the cool hidden bar within the chapel.
